All are welcome. Invite your friends & family! Join us in deeply rooted joy based ritual and community celebration at the culmination of Hanukkah to reject all forms of white supremacy and rekindle our commitment to justice.
From December 2-11, the Anti-Defamation League will be facilitating an exchange program between US and Israeli police, ICE, border agents and soldiers — the very same dates as Hannukah.
With racist nationalism on the rise in both places, we seek to #EndTheDeadlyExchange, a convergence between the US and Israeli governments where police from the US are trained by Israeli military and police, further entrenching the militarization of our police forces. In its place, we must keep building together what brings true safety: interconnected ritual that centers people’s movements for justice, equality, liberation.
So invite your friends and family and join us in celebrating Hanukkah the people’s way: gathering in the streets with loved ones being led in collaborative ritual of song and story as we light our own menorah of justice here in New Haven. Together, we will recommit ourselves to working to dismantle all forms of white supremacy, including anti-Black racism, anti-Palestinian racism, anti-refugee racism, anti-Muslim racism, antisemitism, ableism, transphobia and xenophobia.
We are at a crossroads. Down one path, we are told, lies safety for an ever-shrinking few — through white nationalism in the US and ethno-nationalism in Israel/Palestine, with more walls, guns and and targeted communities.
Down the other path, our movement ancestors call us: Towards safety built through solidarity. Towards collective liberation. None of us are free until all of us are free.
